My Caribbean Cruise on Celebrity Beyond — sunshine, stillness, and simple pleasures
26 March 2025
This cruise came shortly after my 70th birthday, and it felt like the perfect way to celebrate — not with adventure or ticking off sights, but with something far simpler… ease.
We flew to Fort Lauderdale a couple of days early, just to be safe, and boarded the beautiful Celebrity Beyond ready for sunshine, sea air, and a slower pace.
This wasn’t a cruise of “must-see” moments — it was something quieter, and in many ways, exactly what I needed.
The islands — beautiful, warm, and wonderfully similar
We visited St. Maarten, Grenada, Antigua, St Lucia and Barbados — each with its own charm, yet all sharing that same relaxed Caribbean rhythm.
Clear turquoise water, soft sandy beaches, warm sunshine, and friendly locals — wherever we stopped, the feeling was familiar and easy.
We didn’t take any organised excursions. Instead, we chose local guides at each port and enjoyed simple city tours, taking things as they came.

One unforgettable moment — swimming with stingrays
If there was one moment that stood out, it was swimming with the stingrays in Antigua.
It was one of those slightly surreal experiences — a little hesitation at first, then complete wonder once you’re in the water with them.
In truth, the real highlight of this cruise wasn’t the destinations — it was the ship itself.
Celebrity Beyond is a beautiful ship. Elegant, spacious, and full of places to simply sit, relax, and watch the world go by.
There was always something happening — live music, shows, great food, and plenty of places to enjoy a quiet drink.
We had the all-inclusive drinks and Wi-Fi package, which made everything feel effortless. No planning, no thinking — just enjoying each day as it came.
Sometimes, doing less is exactly enough
This wasn’t a cruise filled with big adventures or dramatic stories.
It was something gentler — sunshine, sea, good food, and time to slow down.
And perhaps that was the real takeaway…
Not every trip has to be packed with activity. Sometimes, the simplest experiences are the most restorative.
Would I do it again? Absolutely.
Not for the sightseeing — but for the feeling.
And sometimes, that’s more than enough.
