Did you know that Vietnam is the world’s second-largest coffee exporter? Coffee is a huge part of daily life here, and the Vietnamese take their coffee very seriously.
During my trip, our guide took us to a well-known coffee house where I tried something completely unique – egg coffee. Yes, you heard that right… egg coffee!
It might sound a little unusual, but trust me, it’s absolutely delicious. The egg yolk is whipped with sugar and condensed milk to create a thick, creamy foam that sits on top of strong Vietnamese coffee. The result is rich, smooth and almost dessert-like.
I was so curious about this unusual drink that I ended up trying it in several different places during my stay. Each café seemed to have its own version, with a slightly different twist.
When I mentioned to our guide that I wanted to taste Vietnam’s famous egg coffee, he immediately told me there was a special place known for serving the best in town. The whole group decided to join me on the quest for the perfect cup!
From the outside, the café didn’t look like anything special. But once inside, it was a different story. The coffee house was surprisingly spacious, with three busy floors filled with locals and visitors enjoying their drinks. It was buzzing with energy and clearly very popular.
If you ever find yourself in Vietnam, make sure you try egg coffee at least once. It may sound unusual, but it’s one of those unique local experiences you won’t forget.
Hanoi is full of memorable experiences, including the famous Train Street and its unique coffee culture.
