Las Vegas is one of those cities that people either love or hate. I loved it! Vegas for short; it receives over 30m visitors a year making it one of the most visited attractions in the world. It is a resort city famed for its vibrant nightlife, casinos and centred around 24-hour activities. The light shows and the extravagance of the city is without equal. It is flamboyant, colourful, dynamic, and entertaining. It is simply a delightful playground for grown ups!
The Strip is where you want to be when in Vegas – this is where the fun and action is. This is a place where all the big hotels want to outdo one another – bigger, better and more magical. Here, you will find the recreation of Paris, Ancient Egypt, Venice, Manhattan and much more. You don’t have to gamble and no one will force you to do so; there are plenty of things to keep you busy and occupied.
Vegas is certainly an unforgettable experience. For those who want a bit of excitement, you can enjoy the ultimate 4-D experience at the Excalibur, or the virtual reality at the MGM Grand, or the Adventure dome at Circus Circus or the Big Apple roller coaster at New York New York. But for a more relaxing, gentler activity, the Gondola ride at the Venetian may be for you, or the seeing the Mirage Iconic volcano.
It is always happy hour in Vegas. I loved the cocktails and I could not get enough of them. You can do a people-watching no matter where you choose to stay; you will have the time of your life.
Be sure to visit the Grand Canyon while in Vegas. You will not be disappointed.
One of the must-see in Vegas is the Fountains of Bellagio. We couldn’t miss it really as we stayed at the hotel. The Fountain is very popular and it and iconic landmark on the Strip. It is beautifully done to music and you get really mesmerised by it. Other countries have copied the Bellagio Fountain and improved upon it but there is no other Bellagio Fountain- it is unique.
You will have lots of unforgettable experiences in Vegas not least doing some serious designer shopping! I certainly couldn’t resist buying this Prada handbag, and my friend bought a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes. She looked fabulous wearing the shoes with the six inches stiletto heels! We felt like celebrities who just popped over to pick up some urgent accessories.
All the big names and celebrities come to Las Vegas and you may find it hard to decide which show to see. We chose to see Cirque du Soleil and guess what else, the Chippendales! I mean I ask you! This is high energy entertainment of extremely gorgeous men dancing and stripping to a loud audience of young women, and then us – the over 29 year olds!!! We got the third row from the front and one of my three friends, who actually suggested that we saw the show, did not want to sit at the end of the row in case she got called to the stage. So we had a bit a “women behaving badly moment” about who should sit where. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic time. As the saying goes “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”!
Visiting the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden is one of the things to do. Every year, the Garden showcases the distinctive sight and colours of spring, summer, autumn and winter, and it is a free attraction. It is very well presented with beautiful flower displays and an unbelievable attention to detail. It is worth a visit while you are in Vegas. Remember the display changes with the seasons. This photo caught my attention as it was very well done and interesting.
Dining in the revolving restaurant at the “Top of the World at The Stratosphere” was an amazing experience. The restaurant revolves 360 degrees every 80 minutes and has a sky jump. Getting up the observation deck was the closest I would get to the sky jump area. But the views were amazing. We continued our experience in style and drank lots of champagne while watching the night sky and the City’s skyline. Not to be missed!
I highly recommend visiting Vegas. It is a great destination that has something for everyone. It is an experience of a lifetime. It is a fun place where everything is unreal and yet real. Even the sky in one of the shopping malls was unreal!! Vegas is one of those cities that I would happily pay a return visit to!
